| Bishop David Oyedepo Slapping a worshiper |
Bishop Oyedepo, the founder of the Winners Chapel pentecostal church, sued by a Nigerian lawyer, Robert Igbinedion over human right violation in publicly slapping a young female worshipper over an alleged 'witchcraft' possession, finally appeared in an Ogun state, southwest Nigerian High Court and declared through counsel Olugbenga Adegboye that he and his church are 'NON-JURISTIC PERSONS' and therefore asked the court to strike out the suit since it lacked the jurisdiction for adjudication.
Effectively, Mr Oyedepo's claiming some sort of 'SPIRITUAL IMMUNITY' from prosecution just like Nigerian officials in the Legislative, Judicial and Executive organs enjoy various constitutionally-guaranteed immunities in the discharge of their functions!
Lagos lawyer, Robert Igbinedion had in April, sued Oyedepo on behalf of the young Nigerian girl in enforcement of her rights to freedom from an inhuman and degrading treatment, human dignity, fair hearing and freedom from discrimination, praying the court to award the sum of #2billion against the Bishop as 'general and examplarly damages' as well as force the Bishop to publish a public apology in two Nigerian newspapers and an international satelite television.
